Every year, thousands of young people go on venture camps. There are camps for 11-14 year olds and 14-18 year olds. Rob and Margaret Bianchi run 3 of the dozens of camps that take place around the country at Blaithwaite in the Lake District. The camps consist of outdoor activities, fun events, games, music and time to stop and think about faith in life.
Check out the Ventures site for details of CYFA ventures nationally.
Our youth group meets each week at the vicarage during term time and is for young people aged 11-18. We occasionally meet for an hour and a bit at 4.00pm on Sunday afternoon or Wednesday at 4.30pm. Sessions are a safe place for young people to talk about issues they face, build friendships, have some fun, watch films and think more about who Jesus is, who God is and what he wants of us. Contact us for further details.
There are also other ad hoc events that will be organised at a time that suits the most people.
Sometimes the focus is an activity, in the past the group has tried out archery, been to Quasar and planned and performed a drama and there is often pizza or something else to eat. There is always the chance to ask the leaders about spiritual things at these times too.
Lads and Dads
'Lads and Dads' is aimed at getting young lads (aged 9+) out and having fun and developing as young men through outdoor activities. The idea is that lads come with their dads to build relationships, but there are also some of the men who are willing to act 'in loc parentis' where necessary so that no one is excluded.
Contact Rob Bianchi (0191 4170852) or the church office (415 4200) to book a place. There is a charge for each event to cover costs, but subsidies are available
