![]() | Me, You & God* *but not necessarily in that order
Our lives are full of many different sorts of relationships, good ones, bad ones, close ones, vague ones, relationships by birth, by geography, by choice. The number and type of these relationships varies from person to person, some choose to limit them, some embrace vast numbers, especially with the availability of computer based social networking, but for all of us, these relationships are there whether we pay attention to them or not. As well as relationships with others, we all have some sort of relationship with ourselves – how we see ourselves, how we present ourselves to the world, who we truly are in the deepest, and sometimes, darkest corners of our lives … and then there’s God. Whether we choose to spend time with God or not, there is some sort of relationship there, because God chooses to reach out to us – the relationship may be broken or not working right, |
| but God comes to us in Jesus to allow the relationship to be restored, to allow it to grow, to allow it to spread into others lives also. This Lent, as we prepare for Easter, we are looking at Encounters with Jesus – stories from the Bible about how God met with people & what happened to them. As we look at these stories together, I hope we will see God, see ourselves, see others more clearly. We often look in a mirror to see ourselves (some of us more often than others!) but often we can see a truer picture of our selves by being with the people who care for us and love us, who know us sometimes better than we know ourselves. As we journey towards Easter together, our Sunday and Wednesday services should help us to go with God, not just during the services, but each and every day. As we know God better, we may get clearer images of ourselves, both who we are and who we can become, and might find the way we relate to others changed, strengthened, challenged.
Hopefully, there will be something for everyone, and visitors are most welcome.
I look forward to seeing you over Lent.
Brett
